The process of planning and executing a mapping project is as important as the technology and expertise. At Tuck Mapping, we follow a proven process to define each project, plan it and then execute the data acquisition and processing into the desired deliverables. There are quality checks throughout the process but none as important as the first step of clearly identifying the need and the objective.
Process
- Initial Consultation - The first step in any Tuck proposal or project is to develop a thorough understanding of the client's intended usage of the desired data. With this understanding, Tuck managers have a sound basis to recommend a mapping/surveying solution that will meet client needs. And this recommendation will be the best solution...even if it is a solution provided by one of our competitors.
- Project Planning - Critical elements in the success of a project includes many things such as scheduling, equipment, staffing, weather, satellite availability, ground control, etc. Tuck project managers consider all applicable elements in developing a plan for the project. Our experience with thousands of projects give us the expertise and experience to properly plan action to meet the client's need.
- Data Acquisition - With a sound plan, Tuck pilots and technicians are ready to execute the plan. While most data acquisition flights are "routine" it is not uncommon to deal with difficult and or unexpected issues such as security, community questions/concerns, flight restrictions and other situations. Once again, the experience of Tuck's staff is invaluable to manage issues and successfully acquire the data. Normal quality control processes require a thorough check of the data before ending the flight mission to ensure that data has been successfully acquired for the target area to prevent re-flights.
- Processing - Data acquisition technology is truly remarkable but processing by experienced and well-trained technicians is the final step in producing high quality products. Whether verifying LiDAR points or mapping from aircraft photographs, Tuck technicians are fully capable of shaping the data into the format needed by the client and delivering the promised product.
